Halo: Spartan Strike Blasts Onto iOS, Windows Phone 8, And Windows 8 Devices For $6

Although we have to wait until October 27 when Halo 5 officially launches for the Xbox One, another Halo: Spartan Strike is now available for iOS, Windows 8, Windows Phone 8, and Steam for the relatively low price of $5.99. And you don’t have to worry about dealing with ridiculous microtransactions as seen with the Halo: Spartan Assault. All in-game purchases are taken care of with currency that you earn as you progress through the game.

Spartan Strike is a top-down gaming affair and you control your on-screen action using dual control sticks. Compared to Spartan Assault, Microsoft says that Spartan Strike brings with it new and improved controls and a spruced up graphics engine.

You play as a Spartan supersoldier as you blast through 30 missions that take you through the cities and jungles of New Mombasa. You’ll have access to a whole host of weapons, vehicles, and power-up abilities as you lead UNSC troops into battle. All of the action takes place in the year 2552, placing it in the same timeline as Halo 2.

Players with Windows 8 devices will also be able to take advantage of weekly challenges and access to a game leaderboard. Players will also be able to earn achievements that will unlock an emblem, avatar, and nameplate in Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

You can download Halo: Spartan Strike right now for Window 8, Windows Phone 8, iOS, and Steam. If you haven’t already played the preceding Spartan Assault, Microsoft is also making available the Halo: Spartan Bundle which includes both games for $9.99.
