Apple To Open First European iOS App Development Center In Italy

It's no secret that success seen from creating a mobile app could be huge if done right. Small companies have become massive, all thanks to a single app. Look at King and its Candy Crush series as a great example. Knowing the possibilities and acting on them are two different things, though, and getting into the app-development game isn't something that most people are going to find easy.

That's a problem Apple hopes to solve with its first ever "iOS App Development Center", one that will teach folks how to create apps for the iOS platform. The press release is a little light on certain details, but it sounds as though this will be like a night class that people can take to learn start to finish how to go about their development.

Unfortunately for those in North America who would jump on this opportunity, the first App Development Center is being launched in Europe - Naples, to be exact. Apple's Tim Cook says, "Europe is home to some of the most creative developers in the world and we’re thrilled to be helping the next generation of entrepreneurs in Italy get the skills they need for success."

Apple pats itself on the back for creating so many jobs in Europe, claiming to be responsible for 1.4 million jobs, which includes 1.2 million that are directly attributable to the community of app creators. Further, Europeans have earned €10.2 billion to date from selling their apps.

With Italy in particular, Apple says that it has created 75,000 jobs there thanks to the App Store. In one example, IK Multimedia launched its first app in 2009, and has gone on to see 25,000,000 copies of its software downloaded through the App Store.

If this kind of school sounds right up your alley, rest assured that Apple is keen on expanding its reach beyond Europe. "Apple expects to expand this program to other countries around the world." How long that will take, we'll have to wait and see.
