Acer Liquid Zest Arrives Stateside In July With 5000 mAh Battery, $199 Price Tag

Don’t worry, we are not talking about a $199 body wash here. In July, Acer will release the Liquid Zest Plus, its latest and greatest LTE smartphone. The Liquid Zest Plus will come equipped with Android 6.0, a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display, a 5,000mAh battery, a MediaTek MT6735 quad-core Cortex-A53 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. The USB OTG (On-The-Go) will let users charge other devices with the phone.

The phone has a rear-facing 13MP camera with LED Flash, Laser autofocus, PDAF that Acer says uses a "tri-focus" system in order to capture images more quickly. It also has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens. There is a mono speaker on the back that provides DTS-HD Premium Sound. The smartphone’s biggest seller is its giant battery, which will supposedly run for three days on a single charge.

The Acer Liquid Zest Plus will not make you smell “Whitewater Fresh”, but it will come in the colors Moroccan Blue and Andes White and have a starting price of $199. Acer will showcase the Liquid Zest Plus at the Computex Taipei 2016 from May 31st to June 4th

Acer phones are usually unpopular in North America. The company's North American market share has slipped over the past few years, while in contrast, the company's European market share has risen. Acer grew quickly in Europe in part by embracing the use of more traditional distribution channels targeting retail consumers when some rivals were pursuing online sales and business customers. Online purchasing, however, continued to dominate North American spending habits. Acer became one of the number one PC vendors worldwide, but was never quite able to make a significant dent in the smartphone market.
