Microsoft Developing ‘Halo: Spartan Strike’ Top-Down Shooter For Windows Devices And Steam

There is a lot of Halo content coming around the corner this holiday season for fans of the sci-fi video game franchise. Both the Halo Channel and Halo: The Master Chief Collection are launching in November while fans will gain access to the Halo 5 multiplayer beta in late December. But if that isn’t enough Halo for fans, Microsoft and 343 Industries have announced Halo: Spartan Strike.

Halo: Spartan Strike is a top-down, twin-stick shooter in the same vein as Halo: Spartan Assault, which was released last year, and is set in the year 2552 during the events of Halo 2. The game comes with new features and improvements over Spartan Assault that includes a new vehicle and the Prometheans, while touchscreen controls and responses have been improved. It will also have achievements, leaderboards, 25 weekly challenges, and give players rewards that will cross over to Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

Halo: Spartan Strike will be released on December 14 for $5.99 on the Surface tablet, Windows Phone, and Windows desktop. Purchasing it on either of those Windows devices will give consumers the game on all platforms, including Steam. However, Halo: Spartan Strike will not be available for iOS, Android, or Xbox platforms at this time.
