Rockstar Coy About GTA V For PC Platform Coming Early 2014

Grand Theft Auto V is a huge hit, and while it’s lighting up many a console, to date there is no version for the PC, despite a petition. This isn’t totally unexpected, as releasing the game on consoles and then rolling out a PC version months later is what Rockstar Games has done with previous GTA editions, but it’s galling for PC gamers that the company hasn’t said anything affirmative about whether the game will be available on the PC at all.

However, industry scuttlebutt is that a PC version of GTA V is coming in early 2014. Eurogamer says it has multiple sources that confirm that the game will on available on the PC in Q1 2014, and comments by NVIDIA’S Chris Evenden during an earnings call where he mentioned GTA V as one of several games coming for the platform points to that as well. (In a follow-up, NVIDIA flatly told Eurogamer that there was no truth to the comment, but still, the bell was rung.)

Rockstar Games coy about GTA V for PC

Rockstar also waived off the possibility of a PC version in a Q&A on its site from back in July, where it said, “The only versions of the game that we have announced are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 which are set for a September 17th worldwide release. We don’t have anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now.”

Rockstar Games coy about GTA V for PC

We imagine that given Rockstar’s history it will roll out GTA V for the Xbox One and PS4 first, but if the sources are correct, it’s coming for the PC next year, as well. Even though Rockstar is being as coy as possible about it, it wouldn’t make any sense for the company not to release a PC version.
