ASUS ROG G752VS 4K Gaming Notebook Sizzles With Core i7-6700HQ And GeForce GTX 1070
If you're in the market for a gaming laptop, you might be holding out for the first batch of notebooks to include a graphics chip based on NVIDIA's potent new Pascal architecture. The good news is you don't have long to wait—an ASUS ROG laptop has been spotted wielding a GeForce GTX 1070, along with several other high-end goodies.
It's the ASUS ROG G752VS, a 17.3-inch beast that will be available in a few different configurations, all of them sporting the GeForce GTX 1070 GPU. Notice there's no "M" to designate that it's a mobile GPU, an interesting omission that has us wondering how close to the desktop variant the mobile version will be, if in fact they're different. Either way, early listings show the GPU paired with 8GB of GDDR5 memory.
Beyond the graphics, the ROG G752VS will come with both Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) and 4K Ultra HD (3840x2160) panel options, both of the In-Plane Switching (IPS) variety and both equipped with NVIDIA G-Sync technology for buttery smooth gameplay. Those who opt for the higher resolution option will also benefit from 100 percent coverage of the Adobe RGB color space.
All model variants will feature an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor based on Skylake. It's a quad-core CPU with Hyper Threading support clocked at 2.6GHz (base) to 3.5GHz (Turbo). It also has 6MB of cache and a 45W TDP. When not tapping into the GeForce GTX 1070, the Core i7-6700HQ's Intel HD Graphics 530 will kick in.
As with past ROG laptops, the ROG G752VS will ship with different memory and storage configurations. The base amount of RAM is 16GB of DDR4-2133, though at least one model will double up to 32GB. On the storage side, users will choose from models with a single 1TB HDD (7,200 RPM), 256GB PCIe M.2 SSD + 1TB HDD (5,400 RPM), 256GB PCIe M.2 SSD + 1TB HDD (5,400 RPM), 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD, and 512GB M.2 SSD + 1TB HDD (5,400 RPM). It's a little weird (and disappointing) that all the all of the dual storage options pair a slower 5,400 RPM HDD with an SSD instead of a faster 7,200 RPM HDD that's available as a standalone option.
