ASUS Offers Limited Edition ZenBook UX305 With 3200x1800 Display And 512GB SSD For $999

We were first introduced to uber-thin ASUS ZenBook UX305 at the Intel Developer Forum last fall. Four months later, the ZenBook UX305 landed on our shores complete with an Intel Core M 5Y10 processor, 13.3-inch 1080p IPS display, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. The price of entry for ASUS’s 2.6-pounds of mobile computing goodness: $699.

Today, ASUS is delivering a higher-end, “Crystal White Limited Edition” SKU of the ZenBook UX305. The newest model ditches the “old and busted” 1080p display in favor of a “new hotness” QHD+ (3200x1800) IPS display. You still get Intel HD 5300 Graphics and 8GB of RAM, but the SSD had doubled in capacity to 512GB and a faster Core M 5Y71 handles processing duties. Other features include a 44 Whr lithium-polymer battery, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, an SDXC slot, a micro HDMI port and three USB 3.0 ports.

Even with the uprated specs, the price of entry for the new SKU, complete with the special white aluminum finish, is a respectable $999. At this price point, the ZenBook UX305 Crystal White Limited Edition makes is a deadly rival for the $1,299 Apple MacBook which comes with a 12-inch 2304x1440 display, 256GB SSD, and just one USB-C port (you need to purchase a $19 adapter just to use a full-size USB port and $79 to gain an HDMI port)

Only 200 units of the ZenBook UX305 Crystal White Limited Edition are available to purchase, so you had better move quickly if you want to get your hands on ASUS’ latest and greatest. On a slightly related note, ASUS has also introduced a new champagne gold variant of the original 1080p ZenBook UX305 priced at $699. According to ASUS, it will be available in “select” brick and mortar retail locations.
