Microsoft Discounts ASUS Transformer Book T100TAF 2-in-1 PC By $80

Microsoft is certainly in the holiday spirit. Continuing with its "12 Days of Deals" promotion, today's discounted item is the ASUS Transformer Book Signature Edition (T100TAF-B1-MS), a 2-in-1 hybrid PC with a detachable 10.1-inch HD (1366x768) multi-touch display powered by an Intel Atom Z3735F quad-core processor (1.33GH-1.83GHz, 2MB L2 cache) based on Bay Trail-T and 2GB of DDR3L-RS 1333MHz memory. The CPU is an upgrade over the model we reviewed last year, which came with an Intel Atom Z3740 chip.

These types of devices began popping up after Windows 8/8.1 arrived. Like the others, the dual-purpose design of the Transformer Book allows the hybrid system to function as a tablet or a laptop with the full version of Windows 8.1 with Bing installed. It also offers up to 11 hours of battery life in between charges.

Other specs include 32GB of built-in eMMC storage, 3-in-1 card reader, micro USB 2.0 port, full-size USB 2.0 port (on detachable keyboard), micro HDMI, headphone output/microphone input combo, 1.2MP webcam, 802.11n Wi-Fi (Miracast enabled), and Bluetooth connectivity.

As an added bonus, the Transformer Book comes with an Office 365 Personal subscription for one year, which itself is a $70 value. You can also be assured that the system will arrive without any junkware or third-party trialware, one of the features of Microsoft's "Signature Edition" designation.

For today only, the Transformer Book is going for $249 at the Microsoft Store, an $80 savings over its normal price of $329. That's a sweet deal, though don't fret if it's not up your alley -- Microsoft's 12 Days of Deals promotion is hooking customers up with savings on various items up through December 19th.
