DRM-Free Game Service GOG.com Eases Government Shutdown Pain With Free Game Pack For Furloughed Workers

I can't imagine that there are too many out there who are content with the shutdown of the US government, especially those 800,000 or so workers who have been furloughed. Then of course there are those who'd love to make a trip to a national park or landmark, but can't, because such things simply can't exist until the government is rebooted.

Tropico Reloaded

Well, the folks over at GOG.com, despite not being based in the US, understand the pain that a lot of us are going through. To help ease that pain, the DRM-free gaming service has kicked-off a themed sale that will allow you to run your own governments in games, and try to do better than the real governments (which I can't imagine would be that difficult).

Because a lot of the US shutdown revolves around healthcare, it seems appropriate that Theme Hospital is one such game up for sale. Want to manage a government that's gone a little awry? Tropico Reloaded will help with that. And because crazy things happen in events like these, Redneck Rampage has been put on sale as well. You can fill in the blanks there.

The best part of this promotion is that those US government workers who have been furloughed have a chance to get every single themed game on sale for free, as part of a pack.

"Finally, we would like to express our condolences to everyone who's been furloughed by the shutdown. More than that, actually, we'd like to offer you the games pack of our special Shutdown Promo for free. Send an email to thanksobama@gog.com with your picture holding the official furlough letter you received, before Friday 11 October 2013 at 12:00 EDT and we'll give you The Guild: Gold Edition, Capitalism, Capitalism 2, Tropico: Gold Edition, Alpha Centauri + Alien Crossfire, Theme Hospital, and Redneck Rampage free."

Just awesome. I've been using GOG.com for a number of years, and it's things like this that make me love it.
