Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Rides Guns Blazin' Onto NVIDIA Shield Android TV March 31st
Ever since the release of its SHIELD Android TV device last spring, NVIDIA hasn't slowed down in its attempt to bring as many hot games to the platform as possible. While many of the top-tier game releases have been tied to the company's GeForce Now streaming service, Android-native titles do come along every once in a while. In the past, we've seen NVIDIA help usher in Half-Life 2, Portal and Trine 2 on Android. Now, it brings us Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.
The Pre-Sequel is the third entry in the Borderlands series, although it's more of an "in-between" release than a sequel to Borderlands 2. It's also quite unlike that second-last release, as it was largely developed by 2K Games Australia rather than Gearbox, which had developed the first two games exclusively. The core Borderlands awesomeness is present, but you'll definitely spot some differences, as the vast majority of the characters in the game have Australian accents.
While The Pre-Sequel is largely considered to be weaker than Borderlands 2, it's still an excellent game for fans of the series. The addition of low-gravity can really help spice things up, adding a unique dynamic both to battles and even getting from point A to point B. Not to mention the little fact that this is the first game in the series that lets you play as Claptrap, which in itself will unfold some hilarity as you work your way through the game.
If you've never played a Borderlands game before? You might be better off starting with the original so that you can take in the great story and then work your way through the subsequent releases.
For some, mobile might be the only way to go right now, and if that's the case, and you happen to own an NVIDIA SHIELD device, you'll be able to purchase and download the game on March 31st. Interestingly, this version of the game is $14.99, which is $1 less than the cheapest sale Steam has ever had for it. Unfortunately, unlike with its GeForce Now service, NVIDIA can't supply a Steam code with the purchase of the Android variant of The Pre-Sequel.
