ASUS Makes Upgrading Your Monitor a Tough Choice, Rolls Out 27-inch G-SYNC Display and 28-inch 4K Panel
Gamers interested in a monitor featuring NVIDIA's G-SYNC technology are going to have some interesting options in the coming weeks and months. One of those options is the new ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q, a 27-inch panel with a WQHD (2560x1440) resolution, 120+ Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and a full range of ergonomic adjustment options.

The Cliff Notes version is that G-SYNC keeps a display and the output from a Kepler-based GPU in sync, regardless of frame rates or whether or not V-Sync is enabled. This results in ultra-smooth gameplay free from stutters and other unwanted side effects of synchronization.
The PG278Q from ASUS supports G-SYNC while offering up a big-boy resolution. It also features GamePlus, an exclusive ASUS feature that is an on-screen display (OSD) overlay that enables crosshair and timer functions to be displayed on the monitor. Gamers have four different crosshair types to choose from, while the timer function allows players to track elapsed time in real-time strategy games, ASUS says.
Connectivity consists of a DisplayPort 1.2 and two USB 3.0 ports. Perhaps the best part, however, is the price. ASUS set the MSRP at $799, which seems reasonable considering the size, resolution, and special features that are baked in. It will be available sometime in Q2.
If you're more concerned with ultra high-res gaming than G-SYNC technology, ASUS has you covered with its newly announced PB287Q, a 28-inch monitor with a 4K (3840x2160) ultra high definition (UHD) panel. That's four times the resolution of Full HD 1080p display.
This is a promising panel with a 350cd/m2 rated brightness, 1ms response time (GTG), built-in 2W stereo speakers, and a stand that supports swivel, tilt, pivot, and height adjustments. As for connectivity, it features a DisplayPort 1.2, two HDMI ports (one with MHL support), and an earphone jack.
Like the PG278Q, this one is set at $799 MSRP and is scheduled to ship in the second quarter.
