Star Wars Battlefront Beta Opens To PC, Xbox One and PS4 Gamers October 8th

We’re reaching the home stretch in our wait for EA’s Star Wars Battlefront, which looks like it could be one of the best Star Wars games in recent memory. (That is, so long as it doesn’t suffer the miserable launches we’ve seen other blockbusters endure.) After teasing us with promises of an open Beta, the company has finally announced the date that Beta will begin: October 8th.

The Beta will run from October 8th to the 12th, after which we’ll all be back to impatiently waiting for the official launch of the game, which is set for November 17th. The Beta will have three missions, each of which gives you a taste of the different play modes in Star Wars Battlefront.
The Walker Assault on Hoth looks particularly fun. The 40-player battle features Imperial AT-ATs and Y-wing Rebel ships. You can play on either side, which makes for some interesting play; you can even take man an AT-AT walker under the right circumstances.

For smaller multiplayer matches, Star Wars Battlefront has Drop Zone on Sullust, an 8v8 match that centers around dropping escape pods. The Survival Mission on Tattooine is a single player mode, although you can bring a friend in for co-op if you need a hand. Your mission there is to hold off TIE fighters and stormtroopers as they rush you.

The short Beta will also introduce players to the Star Wars Battlefront Companion, which lets users play the Base Command card game and has a system for earning credits that you can use to buy weapons and other gear.

Star Wars Battlefront looks like it will have a ton of content at launch, so it’s understandable that EA is focusing on just a few missions in the Beta. As we mentioned earlier, the full version of the game will be available on November 17 for PCs (via Origin), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
