The update from NVIDIA follows a Google Android TV update that improved searching for TV apps. NVIDIA’s update also includes KODI 15 Beta 2, which has several features optimized for the NVIDIA Shield. Chief among those is 4K video support.

Shield users now have access to several new TV apps, including CBS News and Sports, as well as Fox Sports Go and EPIX – all of which can be found in the
Google Play store. Down the road, the Shield will receive other apps that are coming to Android TV, including Twitch and HBO Go.

NVIDIA also used the opportunity to point out some new games that are available for the Shield. Doom 3: BFG might be worth taking for a spin while you want for the upcoming new Doom, but Game of Thrones HD is also available. NVIDIA is also giving users a discounted price of $4.95 for Trine 2.
