Maxed Out Surface Book With Core i7, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD Listed At $3199

When Microsoft revealed its Surface Book a couple of weeks ago, we knew it was going to be a HOT product. What I'm not sure many of us realized, though, is that the available models would sell out so fast. For a product that starts out at $1,499 and doesn't have the Apple name attached to it, that's quite impressive.

As it appears, though, all of the configurations can still be pre-ordered, but it's wise to jump in realizing that the product might not be delivered as quickly as you'd hope. There is one configuration that's been added that is likely to ship the fastest, though, simply due to the lack of people willing to spend $3,199 on a new notebook.

This grand configuration features a Core i7 processor, 16GB of memory, a 1TB solid-state drive, and a dedicated NVIDIA graphics card. Unfortunately, that's as specific as the product page gets, which is a bit strange given a lot of people would like to know exactly what they're getting. We'll have to wait for these things to get in the hands of customers so that tools can be run to reveal their inner bits.

The "sweet spot" in the Surface Book lineup could be the $1,899 model, as it's the least-expensive one to feature a dedicated NVIDIA graphics card, an important feature for those who believe gaming should be possible on a notebook that costs nearly $2,000. It also doubles the SSD density of the base $1,499 model to 256GB.

If you like the ability to have 16GB of memory to make use of, but don't need the mammoth 1TB SSD, a 512GB model can be had for $500 less. As far as I can tell, that's the only change, so that's quite a significant difference. Getting the best sure isn't cheap!
