LG's G Pad II 10.1 Combines 2K Display And Huge 7400 mAh Battery With '13 Era SOC
LG Electronics is getting ready to officially launch its G Pad II tablet at IFA 2015 in Berlin, after which the 10.1-inch slate with a WUXGA (1920x1200) resolution will become available in key markets in North America, Europe, and Asia, the company announced today. Both LTE and Wi-Fi only versions will be available.
The sleek looking tablet will feature a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor from yesteryear with a clockspeed of 2.26GHz and, presumably, an Adreno 330 GPU. Interestingly, LG didn't opt for a more modern System-on-Chip (SoC) foundation, such as a Snapdragon 808 or 810, both of which offer better power efficiency.
In place of a more power efficient SoC, LG chose a capacious 7,400 mAh battery to keep the G Pad II running "for hours on end."
"The LG G Pad II 10.1 was developed in response to consumers’ feedback and optimized for multimedia consumption." said Chris Yie, vice president and head of marketing communications for LG Mobile Communications Company. "Customers asked for a large display, bigger battery and faster performance all without raising the price. The G Pad II delivers on all counts."
Other features include 2GB of RAM, 16GB of eMMC storage expandable via microSD, 2-megapixel front camera, 5-megapixel rear camera, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, USB 2.0 connectivity, optional LTE, and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
