GeForce GTX 1080M GPU For Gaming Notebooks Reportedly Ships With 8GB GDDR5 Memory
NVIDIA’s has yet to make an official announcement, however this past weekend Swedish gaming notebook manufacturer IVY listed their new notebooks as powered by NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1080M. The key feature of the GeForce GTX 1080M is the 8GB of video memory which spells higher resolution textures and screens.
While the mobile GeForce GTX 1080M is undeniably slower than the desktop version, it looks like it will be giving the desktop GTX 980’s a run for their money. The GeForce GTX 980 featured 2048 CUDA cores, a base clock of 1126 MHz, a boost clock of 1216 MHz, and a total memory bandwidth of 224 GB/s. It retails anywhere from $500 to $700 USD. The mobile GeFore GTX 1080M boasts 2048 CUDA cores, a base clock of 1442 MHz, a memory clock of 8,008 MHz, and a total memory bandwidth of 256 GB/s.
The IVY 17P retails for 24,000 SKP (Swedish Krona) or almost $3,000 USD. If customers pre-order the notebook by June 26th, they will receive a 3,000 SKP or roughly $300 USD rebate. The first shipments are expected July 29th while the second shipment is likely to come on August 12th. The company does ship internationally and shipping is roughly $35 USD.
