If you’ve read our review of the ASUS ZenFone 2, you’d know that we’re pretty enamored with the device. At just $199 unlocked (16GB version), the Intel Atom-powered smartphone brings a lot to the table including a 1080p display, respectable performance and rock solid build quality. If you can get past the crummy cameras, it’s hard-to-beat mid-range Android smartphone.

For those that like the ZenPhone 2, but wish it had a bit more style and a bit more storage, ASUS is delivering with the ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition — that’s a pretty big name for a small smartphone, so let’s get right to what makes this smartphone so special.

ASUS has endowed the ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition with 128GB of onboard storage, which is double that of the 64GB model ($299). ASUS is also shipping the smartphone with two swappable back covers. The first features a multifaceted silver finish, while the second has a carbon fiber finish. In addition, ASUS has tricked out the ZenUI with red-accented flourishes throughout along with unique icons and wallpapers.

As ASUS puts it, “It’s a ZenFone 2, but special-er!”

Once you get past those new features, all of the other hardware specs mirror that of other members of the ZenFone 2 family. That means you’ll find a 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor with 4GB RAM, 1080p display covered with Gorilla Glass 3, a 3000mAh battery, a microSD slot (which accepts up to 128GB of external storage) and dual microSIM slots. That also means that you’ll have to put up with the lackluster 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing cameras — you can’t win ‘em all.

The ASUS ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop and is priced at $399 at Amazon.
