Apparently this is the season of leaked slides, at least for Intel, which seems to having trouble keeping inside information under wraps. It goes without saying that Intel's RealSense technology is very impressive, as it's able to accurately scan its environment and pass along loads of data to a computer for analysis or image recreation. Lenovo is finding itself embroiled in yet another security scandal, and this time it revolves around the BIOS used in many of its PC systems. According to security researcher Dmytro Oleksiuk (aka Cr4sh), the vulnerability lies in the SystemSmmRuntimeRt UEFI driver component of Lenovo’s firmware. Oleksiuk claims that the exploit is present in every ThinkPad machine dating back as far as the X220 and as recently as the T450s. In what can be considered another legal setback for Oracle, a jury has ordered the firm to pay Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) $3 billion in damages for its decision to stop developing database software for HP's Itanium-based servers in 2011. Oracle plans to appeal the verdict, but for now it's on the hook for a significant sum over a contract dispute. What this all boils down to is whether or not Oracle had a legal obligation to continue supporting Itanium after Intel indicated that its end of life was near as it began focusing more on its x86 microprocessors. After years of speculation, it appears that Intel has finally won a spot inside Apple’s iPhone 7 according to a new report from Bloomberg. Qualcomm has been the primary supplier of wireless modems inside iPhones for years, but its role will be diminished thanks to Apple’s new agreement with Intel.
