Only Treats: Google's Nexus 5 with Kit Kat Jump Out On Halloween

Before you go out trick or treating tonight, Google has a Halloween treat of its own to announce. At long last, the much anticipated Nexus 5 smartphone built by LG is finally available in Google Play, and with it comes the delicious new build of Google's open source operating system, Android 4.4 KitKat. In fact, the Nexus 5 is the first device to unwrap KitKat.

You can grab the Nexus 5 in either white or black, and in 16GB ($349) or 32GB ($399) capacities. All four models are available to purchase now (unlocked and off contract for T-Mobile or Sprint) and are scheduled to leave the warehouse by November 8, 2013. Keep in mind that date is subject to change if you wait too long, as we have no doubt demand is going to be through the roof, just like it was for the Nexus 4.

Now that the Nexus 5 is here, we can list out the system specs with 100 percent confidence that they're the real deal (barring a typo on the product page). What the Nexus 5 brings to the smartphone arena is a 4.95-inch display with a 1920x1080 resolution (445 ppi), Gorilla Glass 3, 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 GPU clocked at 450MHz, 2GB of RAM, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 8MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization, 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB port, dual microphones, ceramic power and volume buttons, dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, NFC (Android Beam), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, SlimPort, 4G LTE support, and a 2,300 mAh battery good for up to 17 hours of talk time and up to 300 hours of standby time.

As with the Nexus 4, choose your storage option wisely because there isn't a microSD card slot. With that in mind, the 32GB model is probably the better buy for most people.

So, do you plan to order one?

Just do it. Don't fight it. Let the Nexus 5 flow through you and your wallet. It make you stronger!!

I say do it, too. If you dont have a Nexus 4 yet, thats more reason to get it!

I'm gonna save up for this. i was considering a Chinese phone, but given that the price is the same as the one i was gonna get, but this one having better CPU/GPU and LTE, i think the winner is obvious. My HTC Evo 3D needs a rest.

I guess I was wrong. I felt that mobile syrups claimed release date would be wrong since there were no invites or anything. But Google did do a ninja release. Also I was looking at the 4g lte bands and technically it could work on Verizon but it probably won't since there were already so many issues with the Nexus 7.

Oh my god, I want this. I'm not even thinking about the specs, the price alone is so tempting!
