Honda Adding Apple Siri "Eyes Free" Assist on Some 2013 Cars

Apple's Siri voice recognition software gets around, and later this year, it will be integrated into 2013 model Honda Accord, Acura RDX, and ILX models as a dealer installed option, American Honda announced. Using Eyes Free mode, drivers with a compatible iPhone running iOS 6 will be able to chat with Siri without ever taking their hands off the wheel or eyes off the road.

"iPhone has become so integral to people's lives that they continue to use them in their vehicles," said Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of automobile product planning, American Honda. "Offering Honda and Acura owners Siri and its Eyes Free mode via Bluetooth is an incredible opportunity to provide next-generation connectivity and meet our customer's ever-changing needs."

The Siri Eyes Free feature will integrate with the HondaLink and AcuraLink entertainment systems featured in the above mentioned models. Honda is following Chevrolet's lead here, which last November announced plans to integrate Siri functionality into its Spark and Sonic cars.
