Verizon's Android Phones Gain V CAST Video Access

Motorola's DROID is a majorly powerful smartphone. Hardly anyone will argue that. But as of last week, there was still one thing that DROID couldn't do (despite the advertisements): V CAST. As of today, Verizon Wireless has added V CAST capabilities to the DROID, enabling users to watch and stream V CAST video right on their Android-powered handset.

Univision Interactive Media will provide live streams of all 64 of its Spanish-language broadcasts of the 2010 FIFA World Cup soccer matches from South Africa exclusively to V CAST Video customers' mobile devices, and that's just one of the many events to come.  V CAST Video recently added programming from AETN, including A&E, Lifetime and History, and Spanish-language content from V-me, and it currently offers over 230 full-length programs from more than 40 leading providers. Not a bad selection, wouldn't you agree?

Users interesting in trying it out can find the V CAST app in the Android Market today, tucked within the Verizon Channel. It's actually available on all Verizon Android phones, including the DROID, DROID ERIS, DEVOUR, DROID Incredible and LG Ally, but it'll cost you $10/month to enjoy it on top of your data plan.
