Toshiba to Sell HD DVD Players in U.S.

Starting in March, Toshiba plans on shipping HD-DVD drives, making them the first commercial introduction of HD-DVD.  Sony plans to introduce rival Blu-Ray drives in the Summer.  Blu-Ray has garnered growing support in recent weeks and months, but this fight is far from over.  Pricing for HD-DVD are not for the squeamish at $799 and $499 for two models while Blu-Ray pricing is still uncertain.

"Japanese electronics maker Toshiba Corp. said Thursday it will start selling high-definition players that support its HD DVD format in the United States in March -- the first commercial launch of the next-generation product in the world."
