Razer Brings Ultra Low Profile Mechanical Key Action To Apple's iPad Pro
Razer has gone and built itself a new mechanical key switch, but you won't find it implemented in any gaming keyboards for the PC, at least not right off the bat. Instead, Razer's new "Ultra-Low-Profile Mechancial Switch" will initially be outfitted into a keyboard case for Apple's iPad Pro tablet. Who would've guessed, right?

"We’re excited about the potential of our Ultra-Low-Profile Mechanical Switch and look forward to exploring other applications in addition to the mechanical keyboard we’ve designed for the iPad Pro."
Razer says its new low profile switch features a true actuation and reset point, with presses registered with 70 grams of force. The intent is to mimic the feel of a full size mechanical plank in a slim form factor that won't add a bunch of bulk to the iPad Pro. They're also outfitted with slim chiclet keycaps with individually backlit keys boasting 20 levels of brightness levels.
They detachable keyboard case as a whole is made from polycarbonate with a metal kickstand to boot. Razer says it's not limited to a fixed angle, so you can tilt the iPad Pro's display back in small increments for that precise viewing angle you're after.
The case connects via Bluetooth with a suggested battery life of 10 hours on a single charge with the brightness cranked all the way up, or up to 600 hours with the backlighting disabled. Not too shabby, though the relatively high $170 asking price is sure to turn some users off.
