A Vue To A Kill: PlayStation Vue Streaming TV Service Comes To Android TV

With a name like "PlayStation Vue", we wouldn't blame you if you thought that you could take advantage of it only on a PlayStation. Well, that's clearly not the case which is something Sony proved again this week with the announcement that Vue can be used on the myriad Android TV devices available. Bonus: PC and Mac support is coming.

PlayStation Vue is Sony's take on the cable-cutting movement, offering four options to those who want to partake in a wide variety of content, including hits from HBO and SHOWTIME. The least-expensive version is "Access", costing $29.99/mo (or $39.99/mo in cities that air major live content). That package includes 55+ channels and includes movies and sports.

If live sports are important to you, you'd probably want to upgrade to the "Core" package, which costs $5/mo more over Access. At $45/mo, the "Elite" package comes in; it offers 100+ channels, which include "top" movie and entertainment channels.

Here's where disappointment might set in. We mentioned HBO and SHOWTIME above, but unfortunately, those are only available in the "Ultra" package, priced at $64.99/mo (or $74.99/mo depending on your city). That makes this cable-cutter solution almost as expensive as a regular cable TV subscription.

If you're interested in PlayStation Vue, and happen to own an Android TV device equipped with Android 4.4 or higher, you can sign up right away. The service already supports regular iOS and Android devices, so you can enjoy the services on-the-go as well as in the home on up to five devices at once. That, along with DVR support, makes PS Vue quite an alluring option.
