AT&T Doubles 4G LTE Coverage In 2012

AT&T is continuing its aggressive rollout of its 4G LTE network. Earlier this week, the company announced new markets that would soon be receiving LTE coverage. Today, the wireless carrier is adding a few more markets to this list.

With the recent announcements, customers in the following areas will also be able to access 4G LTE service through AT&T:

  • Columbia , South Carolina
  • Charleston, South Carolina
  • Saratoga and Saratoga Springs, New York
  • Pensacola, Florida
  • Fairfield County, Connecticut
  • Twin Cities, Minnesota

In all, AT&T now offers 4G LTE coverage to more than 150 million people and covers 103 markets across the United States. This coverage is more than double what AT&T offered at the end of last year, and the wireless carrier isn't done yet—more expansion is planned through the end of the year.

By the end of 2013, AT&T plans to offer 4G LTE service to 250 million people. Looking even further ahead, AT&T plans to provide 300 million people with LTE service by the end of 2014.
