EA Reveals Dates for Battlefield 4 Open Beta, Release on Next-gen Consoles

Battlefield fans, rejoice: EA has just announced a couple of dates worth paying attention to. On October 1, the company will launch the game's open beta, affecting the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. By all appearances, no pre-order is required to gain access. As previously planned, the game will launch on October 29.

Along with this news, EA has also revealed the street dates for this game and others (FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25) for next-gen consoles: November 19th for Xbox One (21st for Europe), and November 12th for PlayStation 4 (29th for Europe).

As we covered last month, Battlefield 4 is one of EA's titles that qualifies for $10 upgrade pricing if you happen to want to pick up the game for current consoles and then upgrade at the next-gen release. Other key titles that qualify for this include FIFA 14, Need for Speed: Rivals, Madden 25 and Call of Duty: Ghosts.

It might come as no surprise that EA encourages people to take advantage of this offer, as it will allow them to get ahead of the game, so to speak, with regards to learning the maps, unlocking items and building stats. This is important to note, because one detriment of moving from one platform to another would usually mean losing your game progress - not here. The same benefit also affects the aforementioned FIFA and Madden titles.
