HP is breathing new life into its enthusiast Omen branding that hearkens back to the glory days of Voodoo PC, a former boutique system builder it acquired a decade ago. The newest item to sport the Omen logo—and one of the few in HP's history—is the Omen X, a diamond-shaped desktop that separates the main components into individual chambers for superior cooling. It's a unique looking desktop, though there's a purpose to its eye-catching layout. Traditional tower desktops consist of five exposed sides with the PC resting on its sixth side. But with the Omen X, the diamond-shaped configuration is... Read more...
Google may be lighting up the education market with Chromebooks, but that isn’t stopping Microsoft and its partners from introducing low-cost Windows-based devices in response. This time around, Hewlett-Packard is hoping to raise a few eyebrows with its revamped “Stream” PC lineup. The new Stream family consists of three models: two notebooks and one convertible. The first offering is the new Stream 11, which as its name implies features an 11.6-inch anti-glare display (1366x768), measures just 18mm thin, and weighs in at 2.57 pounds. It’s powered by an Intel Celeron N3060 processor paired with... Read more...

Over the weekend, pricing for Hewlett-Packard’s Elite X3 Windows 10 Mobile smartphone leaked onto the web. The smartphone was listed at $799, which is a princely sum for a Windows 10 Mobile device. However, HP clarified things this morning with official pricing for the Elite X3. The $799 price tag is for the Elite X3 smartphone paired with the Desk Dock. If you just want the smartphone by itself, the price is a more palatable $699. However, even at $699, that’s still a lot of money for a flagship Windows 10 Mobile device. For comparison, Microsoft’s Lumia 950 XL launched late last year for $649... Read more...
Remember the Elite X3 phablet HP revealed at Computex earlier this year? It looked like a promising handset, albeit one that's based on an operating system that's struggling to grab any kind of meaningful market share (Windows 10 Mobile). The stylish Elite X3 with its large size 5.96-inch QWHD AMOLED display seem poised to make a splash, only HP may be pricing it out of contention. For a brief period, the Elite X3 made an appearance on HP's online storefront in the U.S. where it was listed for—brace yourself—$799! Phew, it's a good thing HP didn't decide to charge a dollar more, because $800 seems... Read more...
The race to build the world's thinnest laptop hasn't always resulted in quality design innovation or utility over more full-figured machines. For example, comparatively, Apple's MacBook Air line looks a little plain-Jane versus some of the nicer thin and light laptops on the market these days, and certainly HP's Spectre line as well. HP recently saw fit to fully revamp its Spectre series across multiple sizes and formats, the latest of which is simply branded Spectre. The HP Spectre is actually a 13-inch machine, so you might refer to it as such (Spectre 13), if it helps you make the distinction.... Read more...

The Chromebook 11 G5 is HP’s first 11.6-inch-class Chromebook that is available with an IPS HD touch screen display. If you’re familiar with... Read more...
Summers are meant to be hot, but your HP computer should not be. HP recently announced a worldwide voluntary safety recall and replacement program for certain notebook computer batteries. The affected batteries were sold or replaced worldwide March 2013 through August 2015 as accessories or spares for specific HP Compaq, HP ProBook, HP ENVY, Compaq Presario, and HP Pavilion Notebook computers. The affected batteries have the potential to overheat and pose fire or burn hazards. Customers can continue to use their computer without a battery if they plug it into... Read more...
Hewlett-Packard officially announced its monstrous Elite X3 phablet back in February, well ahead of expected summer launch date. That long gap between announcement and release was both a curse and blessing — eager Windows Phone fans that wanted to get their hands on the device had to wait months to purchase it, but it also gave HP more time to make some tweaks and add features to the smartphone. We’re happy to inform you that it appears that the production version of the Elite X3 will now come with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, making it the first Windows 10 Mobile device to come from the... Forget that Teenage Mutant Turtle backpack you begged for when you were eight. HP’s recently launched Omen X gaming line will soon include a PC that is also a backpack. It is designed so that the user can walk around in virtual reality unhindered by wires. HP stated that its will start releasing demo units in about a month. The new PC will have an  Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, up to 32GB of memory, and supposedly weighs under ten pounds. A waist belt will have two batteries that power the CPU and graphics card separately. The batteries only last about an hour, however, you can swap them... Read more...
Hewlett-Packed announced its first OMEN gaming notebook back in November 2014, and now a year and a half later, the company is announcing four new additions to the family. For starters, HP is producing two new OMEN notebooks: one with a 15.6-inch display and another with a massive 17.3-inch display. No matter which form-factor you choose, you’ll be greeted with a standard Full HD screen resolution, or you can pony up for an optional 4K screen. Both laptops can be equipped with up to an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 16GB of DDR4 SDRAM, and up to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M discrete GPU. Single-storage... Read more...
Hewlett-Packard is struttin’ its stuff in the ultrabook class with the brand new EliteBook 1030, which slots in nicely between the lower-end EliteBook Folio 1020 and the range-topping EliteBook 1040. In fact, the EliteBook 1030 is actually based on the 12.2-inch CNC-machined aluminum body of the EliteBook Folio 1020, but ditches the 12.5-inch display and thick side bezels in favor of a 13.3-inch edge-to-edge display. That display is covered in Corning Gorilla Glass for added protection and can be configured with an optional QHD+ (3200x1800) screen resolution — a 1920x1080 display is standard. Under... Hewlett-Packed today unveiled a refresh Pavilion lineup that is geared towards general consumers. The new products encompass both all-in-ones and convertibles, the latter of which are available in a wide range of colors to fit your personal design tastes. Starting things off is the Pavilion x360, which has previously only been available in 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch form-factors. HP obviously sees the customer appeal of this design with a larger display, so the company is introducing new 15.6-inch screen size. HP says that this new generation of Pavilion x360s are 12 to 14 percent thinner than their... Read more...
Hewlett-Packard is fully committed to Google’s Chrome OS, and that dedication to the platform extends to today’s announcement of the Chromebook 13. The Chromebook 13 is quite the looker with sleek styling, premium materials (like a brushed aluminum chassis that measures just 12.9mm thick) and sixth generation Intel Skylake power. Let’s first get this out of the way; you won’t find Intel Core i5, Core i7 or even Core i3 processors under the Chromebook 13’s keyboard. Instead, you’ll find a collection of Core m3, Core m5, and Core m7 processors -- HP even offers up a Pentium 4405Y if you’re so inclined,... Read more...
