Panasonic Expands Lumix FS Line

Just three months after announcing two new Panasonic FS-Series cameras, the company is at it again, this time with three new additions to the point-and-shoot Lumix family. Unfortunately, the DMC-FS12, DMC-FS42, and DMC-FS62 won’t be released in the U.S., but they will be available in Europe and Japan.

DMC-FS12

Panasonic’s DMC-FS12 is a 12.1 megapixel camera that boasts of a long battery life of 330 pictures. This camera has a 4x optical zoom lens that can open up to F2.8. The camera’s iA (Intelligent Auto) mode includes Mega O.I.S. image stabilization, Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, and Face Detection with digital red-eye correction. For viewing and framing pictures, this camera has a 2.7-inch 230,000-dot Intelligent LCD. You can record movies using WVGA (848x480), VGA (640x480), or QVGA (320x240) resolution at 30 fps. The DMC-FS12 comes with PHOTOfunSTUDIO 3.0 photo editing and organizing software. The DMC-FS12 weighs approximately 0.258 pounds and will be available in silver, black, blue, pink, and green.


DMC-FS62

A 10.1 megapixel shooter, the DMC-FS62 boasts of its ability to take 370 pictures on a single charge. Like the DMC-FS12, this camera has a 4x optical zoom and a F2.8 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT Lens. Standard features include iA (Intelligent Auto) mode with MEGA O.I.S., Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, and Face Detection with digital red-eye correction and the ability to recognize up to 15 faces in a scene. This camera has a slightly smaller viewing screen than the DMC-FS12 at 2.5 inches. The DMC-FS62 can record WVGA (848x480), VGA (640x480), and QVGA (320x240) movies at 30 fps. PHOTOfunSTUDIO 3.0 accompanies the DMC-FS62. The DMC-FS62 weighs approximately 0.25 pounds and will be available in silver, black, red, blue, and pink.


DMC-FS42

The DMC-FS42 is very similar to the DMC-FS62, incorporating the same F2.8 LUMIX DC VARIO Lens with 4x Optical Zoom capabilities as well as the same 2.5-inch 230,000-dot clear LCD. What sets the DMC-FS42 apart is its ability to capture 390 pictures on a single charge. In addition, while the DMC-FS42’s automatic scene mode includes Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector, and Face Detection it does not offer MEGA O.I.S. This 10.1-megapixel camera can record videos using WVGA (848x480), VGA (640x480), and QVGA (320x240) resolution at 30 fps. To help you organize and edit your photos, PHOTOfunSTUDIO 3.0 with Face Recognition is bundled with the camera. The DMC-FS42 weighs approximately 0.25 and will be available in silver, black, and pink.
