Conroe Performance Preview Follow-Up
Anandtech has posted a very interesting follow-up to their initial Conroe CPU benchmarks. This new article includes results taken from Anand's own custom benchmarks and not the Intel-created demos used in the previous article. Somewhat surprisingly, the new Conroe CPU still retains its almost obscene performance advantage seemingly indicating that there were no tricks behind the stunning results Intel was already showcasing. Should these results be legit, the only question which remains is when and how much?
The performance picture with regards to Conroe hasn't really changed all that much - on average we're still seeing a bit over a 20% increase in performance over an overclocked Athlon 64 FX-60. While it's worth noting that these results should be taken with a grain of salt, we really were not able to determine any cause for suspicion based on Intel's setups.
