Archos Launches Gen10 XS Tablet Line with QWERTY Keyboard Dock

Archos appears dead set on proving you don't need a Microsoft Surface tablet to own a thin and light slate with a keyboard dock. You can have the same thing on Google's Android platform, as Archos proves with its new Gen10 XS tablet line announced today.

One of those new tablets is the Archos 101 XS, a 10.1-inch slate that weighs a mere 21 ounces and measures 0.31 inches (8 millimeters) thick. It boasts a 1280x800 resolution, ARM-based A9 processor clocked at 1.9GHz, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and promises to deliver an unadulterated Android experience. At launch it will ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, though Archos says it will push out an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update in Q4 of this year.

Archos 101 XS

"As the pioneer in the Android tablet market, we strive to continually push the technological boundaries of tablets and user experience,: says Henri Crohas, ArchosFounder and CEO. "We are taking our tablets to the next level by releasing an entirely new design that will redefine thin while providing more functionality and a better price than any current Android tablet in the market."

Launching alongside the new tablets is Archos' magnetic Coverboard that serves as a cover, stand, dock, and full-size QWERTY keyboard. It's 0.2 inches thick and twists to reveal the keyboard, which you can type on with the tablet propped up by a magnetic kickstand.

The Archos 101 XS will launch in November starting at $400 MSRP.

Doesn't the asus transformer prove everything this archos tablet does? they have had a keyboard dock since day one.

The archos line is a good line, their tablets are awesome. they need the keyboard.

THIS.. I want.

It's nice looking, has a keyboard (neccessary for me, given that I can't stand touch screens - it's why I don't have a tablet yet!)

+ Archos products have always been stellar from my experience. I still have one of their original convergence devices around here somewhere.

I thought tablets were supposed to drop into the 250-300 dollar range this year. Anyway, looks like a good tablet for Archos, i just hope they didnt cheap out on any of the components. ive been less than impressed with some of their media players in the past.
