Apple Addicts Gobble Up Over 1.7 Million iPhone 4 Smartphones

Now that the dust has started to settle on the iPhone 4 frenzy, Apple has had a chance to crunch the numbers and see exactly how popular their latest smartphone really is. As it turns out, it's pretty damn popular. According to Apple, the Cupertino company has already sold more than 1.7 million of its iPhone 4 through Saturday, June 26, only three days after it launched.

"This is the most successful product launch in Apple's history," said Steve Jobs. "Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply."

That isn't the only apology some customers were hoping to hear. The iPhone 4 launch has been fraught with complaints, and not because of short supply. Instead, reports began to surface that some units displayed yellow discoloration on the LCD screen, the likely result of Foxconn shipping out iPhones before the glue inside had a chance to dry. In addition, Apple has been catching flak for reception issues, whereby covering the antennas that run along the sides -- which happens pretty easily if you hold the device with your left hand -- knocks out the signal.

Launch issues aside, this really is the best iPhone to date. Catch our full on review, including video, right here.
