Sony Bringing Android 4.0 To Most Xperia Phones In The Next Two Months

Just because Sony Ericsson is no more (that morphed into Sony Mobile a few months ago), doesn't meant that existing Xperia owners are being left to fend for themselves. With Android 4.0 slowly making the rounds, Sony has announced that Ice Cream Sandwich will be making it onto a number of Xperia phones...just a few months later than expected. Last we heard in November, the rollout was supposed to happen in March 2012, but now it looks like mid-to-late April will be the earliest that any of Sony's phones see ICS.

According to Sony, their devs have been working hard to iron out the kinks. The first Xperia models to receive the upgrade will be Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray. For these first models, the rollout will start mid-April and continue over 4-6 weeks. Following on, Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia pro, Xperia active and Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will receive their scoop starting from the end of May/early June. As for the new Xperia S? That will see Android 4.0 later in the second quarter.
