March Xbox One Update Adds Ability To Snap Screenshots For Backgrounds And Bragging Rights
Microsoft's Major Nelson announced that Xbox One gamers will be able to take screenshots on their console as part of the March update. This has consistently been one of the most requested features, and come next month, it's finally arriving on the Xbox One, or as early as tonight if you're part of the Xbox One Preview Program.
To take advantage of the new feature, all you have to do is double tap the Xbox button on your controller and the console will capture the screen. You can then press Y to save the screenshot, or yell at the Kinect (if you have one) and say "Xbox Take a Screenshot" to capture and save whatever it is you're looking at on the screen.
To go along with this, the March Update will tweak the Upload app to make it easier to manage your screenshots and game clips. You'll be able to set a screenshot as your background, view it in full-screen mode from the Upload app, and eventually be able to share to your activity feed, attach to messages, add to your showcase, and share to Twitter.
Another feature that ties into the screen capture function is the ability to adjust the transparency of your tiles. This is another function that wasn't previously available but has been requested for some time. Now that you can set screenshots as backgrounds, it makes even more sense to be able to adjust the transparency, and you'll be able to do that following the update.
In addition, the update will roll out a Suggested Friends feature, the ability to share your real name, and various privacy and online safety settings tweaks.
