Crytek Has A Pulse, Xbox One Hit Ryse: Son of Rome Headed To The PC

Crytek is bringing Ryse: Son of Rome to the PC platform. Crytek’s third-person action game, where players take on the role of Roman general Marius Titus, hasn't achieved the success it has hoped for as a launch title for Microsoft’s Xbox One and has garnered a Metacritic score of 60. The news comes during a tumultuous time for Crytek as the company recently sold off its rights to Homefront: The Revolution amidst allegations that it was unable to pay employees.

However, the recent bout of bad news has not curtailed the company’s aspirations for the PC version. It believes that the title will become a benchmark game for the platform according to Crytek director of business development Carl Jones who said, “We are bringing the Ryse experience to PC, with 4K resolution support. 4K gaming is another leap in graphics quality for PC gamers and Ryse is the perfect showcase for what’s now possible in high-end PC games.  We’ve given our team the opportunity to show what CRYENGINE can really achieve, without compromising quality, thanks to the incredible hardware available now to PC gamers.  Ryse will be a benchmark PC graphics showcase this year and probably for a long time in future.”

The PC version will include all of the DLC content released to date that includes The Colosseum Pack, the Mars’ Chosen Pack, Duel of Fates Pack, and the Morituri Pack. In total, the content includes five new character skins, 11 new Arena maps, five solo Arena maps, and the new Survival mode with an additional Survivor map. PC players will also receive the “Legionnaire’s Trust” sword and Ruins multiplayer map that were included as part of the game’s special edition.

Ryse: Son of Rome is expected to be released this fall for the PC platform with Crytek publishing the digital version and Deep Silver publishing the retail edition.
