... what |

Hmm... Doubt it. Maybe the average PC. But this progression in console hardware will just push PCs to upgrade. At least that is my opinion. |
|
Well they have to start the hype somewhere dont they. But this here is ridiculous statement. The gained memory bandwidth will not help sony for long. Unless it is planning to release a new console every year then the PC market will simply out evolve the console in matter of months rather then years. |

seems devs love saying foolishness whenever a new console is coming out |
|
Hmmm... It's almost like a bad case of deja vu... A couple of people @ Sony must have cracked open a bag of the /REALLY/ good stuff... |
|
Out power? I don't know about that, but with 8 gigs of ram and ~ 7870 graphics it'll be on par with a mid range gaming pc. Provided that the 8 core Jaguar APU can hold up it's end of the bargain, that is. |

OK where to start with this "comparison?" first up is peripherals multiple setups including REAL joysticks (mappable) real steering wheel combos with real force feedback. Next up is MMO's (unless sony makes a good keyboard...and the PS4 allows mods and addons). Free to play games...this isnt even funny can you see sony doing that! I dont Think So! Then theres all the things like we all love about our pc's like multi uses. Higher res montior setups Hey! even triple head setups! Shall i continue? but the list as they say is endless? TcM |

Gotta love what these people claim...and the people that believe it |

I feel like a tech n00b not already knowing the answer to these questions, but what are the real world performance increase numbers when switching from DDR3 to GDDR5? Would my 16GB of DDR3 1600Mhz be better due to double the memory size? Why isn't GDDR5 memory made available to consumer computers and made compatible with consumer MOBOs? I have only ever seen it used in GPUs. How long until we average joe's get access to it? Why didn't Sony just get early access to DDR4? Thanks for the help folks. |

Hahahahahaha !!! Never !!! No *** oriented gamedtation , can beat a REAL pc |

For years? (Insert hysterical laugh here) |

They need to hype it up, sony isnt in a very good spot right now. |
|
lololololololololololololololol. that makes me laugh. |

They say this every time a new console launches and it is often true for a short time when compared to the average PC, but it isnt long before the PC wins again. I have 16GB in my system. Yeah, it is DDR3 and 5 is a whole lot faster, but so far only Samsung has made a few production level sticks. New RAM means new platforms for PC users. IMO, intel should have introduced it last time, at least as "would support if available" kind of deal. The PS4 is powerful, the gpu and the ram alone will beat out most systems with ease (remember, consoles get more direct code than PCs do). I think the developers may be underestimating the weight of the OS though. With all the sharing stuff and such, the base has go to become heavier. |

With where the market it is now and how affordable pcs have been getting my crappy laptop that i paid mere 500 for literally makes xbox look like atari. And mathematically its not possible they would price themselves out of console range. While its true in the super low 300-400 dollar range consoles might be able to compete.Because gaming computers just are not that cheap. But as for console vs pc my argument has always been you have to have a computer. In this day in age work friends family all require it to some extent. So instead of dropping 200-400 dollars on a new console buy a graphics card slap it in. Compare hardware stats you will blow the xbox/ playstation out of water. The only thing that even kept me remotely interested in consoles was splitscreen. What maybe 1-2 games a year that are splitscreen capable now its just dying. As for the ram statement its very dumb, unless going the route of apu's it will make decent change. But ram speed affects performance by 20-30%. Where in game unless using modded extremely dense textures that developers do not use game wont need it. Best case scenario it will speed up loading times a couple seconds and give a 3-5 fps boost by having a couple more textures preloaded. Also it math even if they buy parts at cost theres no way to get a console comparable spec wise to a mid/ mid-high end desktop without pricing yourself out of the console market. |
